Spotlight: The Ankhkasta Healing Center “Het Aishat”
“Healthy people build a healthy world.”
This is the mantra of Ankhkasta Natural Healing. Ankhkasta is the healing branch of The Earth Center whose mission is to provide humanity with the tools necessary to reconnect with Kemetic (African) traditions and spirituality. This year, The Earth Center and Ankhkasta celebrate the 20th anniversary of this mission in the West. However, this mission represents Kemetic civilisations that are over 100,000 years old.
For over 30 years, Ankhkasta has served countless people across West Africa, the United States and Europe. Ankhkasta continues to provide solutions for people who have not had success solving their health issues either with modern medicine or other forms of alternative healing. For many people, Ankhkasta is not just an alternative, it has become their primary option for addressing their health con- cerns. The accuracy of health consultations by Ankhkasta healers, along with the potency of healing methods has yielded positive, if not amazing results for thousands. In addition to herbal remedies, Ankhkasta provides spiritual read- ings and spiritual healing for those with problems of a spiritual or non-physical nature. Ankhkasta’s services are trusted and used by hundreds of people world- wide each year.
As an extension of its mission, The Earth Center is constructing the Het Aishat Healing Center in the Tchaoudjo region of Central Togo, West Africa. I had the good fortune to interview Nekhitem Kamenthu, one of the lead organisers for this crucial project. He shared important information about the background of Het Aishat.
Het is a Medu word meaning “temple” and Aishat is the Goddess. She is one of humanity’s Ancestral Goddesses, she is like the mother of the original model of the father, mother and child. In her attributes as a Goddess, one of her specialities is healing power and medicine. The temple was named Het Aishat for the Great Goddess Aishat and all the healing attributes she brings of healing, medicine and magic powers. That’s what we were naming the healing centre for and in naming it that, we’re calling upon her energies in our work there.
Building Het Aishat was part of the mission of The Earth Center which includes really championing traditional culture and finding a means to ensure it’s transmitted to the future generations and also using it as a teaching tool. So, Het Aishat is really going to be a large healing centre, entirely staffed by traditional priests using traditional modalities of healing. This is not only going to serve as a location where people can be healed of various illnesses, but it will also serve as an educational nexus or centre because all of the young priests who are apprenticing will be able to be there and sit at the feet of their teachers and it will be a huge vehicle for be- ing able to pass on the [knowledge] for the newer generations. There will be a lot of opportunity for people to constantly observe and study under the head healers who are there. So, not only will it be a place sustaining the methodologies through the basic work the healers do for the people who come to be healed, but it will also serve as an educational vehicle for up and coming priests, priest- esses and healers locally and from abroad.
The priests and healers staffing Het Aishat will primarily be de- scendants of the Tem people who inhabit the region. The Tem people have successfully preserved their traditions while resisting systematic invasions by French and Muslim influences. They pos- sess powerful, effective abilities in the domains of healing and spirituality. Het Aishat will be a place where these traditions can be passed on, continuing this his- tory of resistance and resilience. It is located on 20 hectares in the mountains near the city of Tchaoudjo (Sokode). According to Nekhitem, this location was great for the construction of the centre:
The land there is very pure, it’s very clean, it’s far away from the city which is a perfect place for the healing centre. It’s close enough to the city to have access, but far enough away to benefit from the clean and unadulterated energies of the countryside.
People in the West are realising the limitations, costs and dangers faced when receiving treatments from the modern medical system and are trying alternatives. While there are many forms of alternative medicine available in the West, there is a severe lack of places to go for acute and long-term care. Het Aishat is also being constructed to help fill that void. Nekhitem elaborates on how Het Aishat will benefit the people of the world:
These are traditions that are millenniums old, this is the living legacy of the Nile Valley culture.
Tem culture and traditional cultures are more pragmatic because they acknowledge the different aspects of a human being whereas modern medicine only focuses on the material or gross material aspect of the person and therefore leaves out a lot of the necessary considerations in diagnosing issues. A human being is a compilation of multiple factors so when diagnosing and treating a person you have to incorporate all those phenomena in order to come up with an accurate solution. When you cut out the spiritual and non-material aspects [of a human being] in trying to find a resolution for a balance, then you’re going to always come up with partial [and therefore insufficient] solutions which is characteristic of the modern system. So I would say that there’s an intelligence to seeking solutions from the culture that has a more advanced knowledge of what a human being is and what the human condition is.
If you’re the kind of person that sees a value in traditional [indigenous] medicine and you’re trying to seek that as a solution because you’ve seen a problem with modern medicine and its solutions then you’re paying for something of quality. If you’re going to pay for something, why not pay for something that’s quality? If you have an opportunity to get something that’s quality, and you have to pay for it, why not pay for that instead of taking a discount [through your insurance policy] for something that’s going to end up killing you?

STROKE
One morning in October 2009, I woke up early to begin my usual routine of preparing my day before my 3 year old would arise from her sleep. Sleepily, I entered a dark bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face before hopping into the shower. When I was ready to spit out the toothpaste, I realised it was running down my face instead of into the sink. I turned on the light and noticed that the right side of my face was disoriented and droopy. I tried winking my eyes, they wouldn’t move. I tried wiggling my nostrils and only the left side moved. I tried the eyebrows, nothing. I even tried to make a “kissy face”, puckered my lips, and watched as my face twisted to one side. I stepped outside the bathroom and tried not to panic and wake up my sleeping child.
Instead I quickly, but calmly, gathered some things together in a Ankhkasta Natural Healing Testimonies from Past Clients by various authors bag and carried my sleeping child to the car. I called The Earth Center and explained what happened to me and that I was on my way there. I received an immediate health consultation and learnt I’d had a mild stroke. I’d never had any major health challenges like this before and no prior surgeries. I was told that it was good that I didn’t panic or stress when I saw what was happening to me because I could have triggered something else in my body. I was instructed to take 5 different herbs. In less than a week, the muscles in my face were strong and back to normal. I felt much better overall and my energy was high. I know if I had went to a hospital I would have been admitted and hooked up to several machines and equipment. I would probably still be on medica- tion today, experiencing multiple side effects of those drugs. GENERAL
I consult Ankhkasta healers for any health issue my family may be suffering with. Our family has experienced great results by using Ankhkasta herbs. The healers who worked with us spent time while diagnosing the illness and what may be leading to the ailment or condition. I love the fact that Ankhkasta uses traditional herbs from West Africa. BLOOD INFECTION
During my first trip to Meritah (Africa), I was there for two months. I was fortunate to have gone on the last Earth Center Pilgrimage hosted by Master Naba (founder of the Earth Center) prior to his transition in 2008. While we were travelling in Togo, I noticed a growth on my left armpit. Master Naba told me it was an abscess (boil). The abscess grew to about 2 or 3 inches. I was given a mixture of Shea butter with an herbal powder (Ninika). When I applied this for a one or two days, the abscess opened up and began to drain out. I continued to apply the mixture and gradually drain the abscess over the next few days and it went away.
In the next few weeks during my stay, one or two more abscesses grew. I treated these the same way and they went away. Since I didn’t let them get so big, they didn’t have to be drained. During this period, herbs were made available for us to purchase which we could use for different health conditions when we returned to the US. I asked for something for circulation, Master Naba suggested that I need lots of the herb called Senseni. I told him that I had already taken Senseni and that I wanted something else.
When I returned to Chicago, about two weeks after my return, another abscess sur- faced on my forearm. This one came and went fairly quickly, although I didn’t have any of the Shea butter and Ninika mixture like before. However, a day or so later a larger one began to grow on my lower abdomen. I ap- plied a hot towel to it and squeezed it to try to open it up so it could drain, which seemed to make it worse. I began to feel very ill over the next day. I spoke with Nehez Meniooh, one of the healers in Chicago, he directed me to take some powder mixed with water and to apply it to the abscess and that the abscesses kept surfacing because I had a blood infection. He directed me to take Senseni for the blood infection. I gladly followed his in- structions and was fine in about three days. Had I followed Master Naba’s advice before, I never would have gotten so ill.
My mother was concerned about my condition. After I had recovered, she told me the modern medical solution for an abscess is to cut it open and drain it. She informed me of a case like mine where a man had an abscess on his lower abdomen, he underwent this procedure and died. I’m grateful for Master Naba for making traditional Kemetic Heal- ing accessible in the US and to the healers here and in Meritah who continue to carry on these traditions. I’m working to learn more to become a healer myself. I have so many stories of how Ankhkasta has helped me and my family. I use Ankhkasta for all of my health issues with consistent success and never any side effects.

VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY
I have worked nights for the past several years. Therefore, I have lim- ited amounts of sunlight during my waking hours. This took a toll on my health. For about a month, I had aches in my joints, dizziness, body aches and constant fatigue. I reluctantly went to a medical doctor and was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency. The doctor prescribed me 50,000 units of vitamin D per week! The potential side effects were alarming, plus results were not expected for approximately 6 months.
I began taking a small dosage of vitamin D and sought consultation from Ankhkasta. They prescribed an herb and Ninika blood cleanser. Within 2 weeks my body aches went away followed by the dizzi- ness and joint ache. Within 6 weeks of taking Ninika, my follow up blood work showed my vitamin D level to be back to normal. SCIATIC NERVE PAIN
I developed a severe case of sciatic nerve pain during my 2nd pregnancy. I had severe pain running down my right leg to my foot. My foot became numb. It was to the point where I had to use crutches and at some points I could not walk, sit, stand, or even be on my hands and knees. I spent about 6 months go- ing to the chiropractor...sometimes 5 days per week without much result. I took the nerve medicine [from Ankhkasta] and experienced immediate relief. GOUT
Prior to, and in my first 6 months of my initiation at the Earth Center, I had been experiencing very painful episodes of gout that at the time dis- abled me from walking. BREAST MILK PRODUCTION
I was breastfeeding my daughter for approximately 9 months when my milk production decreased significantly. I tried all sorts of remedies that I found online such as fenugreek, mother’s milk tea, and increased the use of my breast pump. KIDNEY ISSUES
I recently fell very ill with the flu. It took me a few days of rest and recovery before I was feeling somewhat back to normal. Though my headaches, nausea and fatigue were gone, I had serious pain in my lower back, especially around my right kidney. This pain continued on for almost a week without any relief, and I became concerned to the point where I knew I had to do something about it. I spoke to the Ankhkasta healer about my situation and he guided me to utilise the kidney wash herb. The instructions were to boil water, add in a small amount of potassium, along with a pinch of the kidney wash herb, and then massage my kidneys with the liquid. I did this twice a week for 2 weeks, and my kidneys feel great. I no longer feel any pain or discomfort.

INCURABLE WOUNDS
A few months ago, my grandfather, who is in another country, went to the doctor with a wound on his toe that didn’t heal for months. The doctors said that the blood was not reach- ing his leg and that the best option to solve the issue was to amputate his leg. I told my family that, based on what I know by being with The Earth Center, there were other things that could be done natu- rally to avoid amputating my grandfather’s leg. The family consulted with other family members who are doctors of the modern system and they all agreed with amputating. The wound was on the toe and they went ahead and cut his leg from above his knee. A few months later, he went back to the doctor with another wound on the heel of his other leg that also would not heal. The doctors checked him and again said that the only option was to amputate his leg. The family gathered again and agreed to cut his other leg. When I heard this, I got very upset and I explained the situation to Nehez Meniooh, one of the healers. He told me what to send him to avoid amputation. Af- ter speaking to the healer, I asked my family to please try the natural option I had to offer and if it didn’t work then they could cut the leg. They agreed but didn’t believe that some herbs and some powder will do any help but they tried it. In two weeks, my grandfather’s wound healed and the pain was almost gone. I want to point out that this was without a [health] consultation. I know that if he would have a consultation with one of the healers he would be much better. After experiencing this in my family, I can see that the title of ‘Doctor’ is cheap nowadays.
