Maakheru said during his introductory lesson,” your first day will be your easiest." Nothing he said that day was inaccurate, but that statement has been the truest.
In the Ka'at Ibi class, the first thing that is instilled in the student is the notion of purity in our thoughts, words, and deeds. But before even approaching the ancestors or the world of the Gods, purity is of the utmost importance. Purity and cleanliness don't simply mean the act of bathing. As Makeru once said, you can be physically clean but still be spiritually impure, but you can't be spiritually pure and be physically unclean.
The act of purification is for both physical and spiritual Purification starts with cleaning your sexual and anal areas. Then you must clean the hands, mouth, nose, ears, face, armpits, feet, crown of the head, and fingers of the right hand. Every act has meaning and each hand has a purpose and a function. Of the three Western Religions, Islam has a purification process as does Judaism, but neither of them is as extensive and all-encompassing as the Kemetic original way of life. Christianity has no form of purification as I have heard all my life, "Come as you are," whichever state you are in. Even after using the bathroom, come pray to God. And we all know toilet paper only gets your butt minimally clean. Some people even rush to church after sex! I have heard people talking about even having sex in church! Only in the Kemetic system is cleanliness and purity made the foundation of communication with the Gods.
This experience is the most life-altering experience I have, Ka'at Ibi helps to focus your concentration, re-aligns the spine, facilitates correct posture, and raises your consciousness and awareness. The foundation of Ka'at Ibi in the 77 commandments makes you morally aware at all times. You think before all that you do and say, and it can help with negative thoughts. In the midst of trying situations, it helps you to be conscious of your actions so you don't exacerbate a problem.
Ka'at Ibi helps you to learn to deal with physical discomfort and facilitates mental focus. By learning the different meditation positions and breathing techniques, it has helped me, a former asthmatic, to deepen my breath which can clear the lungs of mucus and debris and also strengthen the diaphragm. My awareness of my ancestors has evolved. My awareness of my speech has intensified and the care put into thought before speaking. The mantra chanting helps to facilitate blood flow to parts of the brain where it is normally constricted, opening the mind to exercise functions that lay dormant. The chanting is done in Medu, not English. Medu is the first language given to the world's first human beings by the Neteru (Gods). It's the only language that functions the way the human brain is designed to comprehend language.
One of the other ways it has enriched my life is that my family has now become aware of respecting the Neteru and the ancestors and also the 77 Commandments. They see the effect these classes have had on my life and, though they are not initiates, they see the significance of this journey and the implications of the bestowing of true Kemetic (African) culture on our family and its beauty and power. Even my Christian elder mother and father-in-laws have a copy of the 77 commandments and have truly opened up to our culture in ways that have amazed me. In my personal life, I have had negative situations in which my ancestors have lent assistance to me in ways I never could have imagined. Even my wife has been affected by what she has seen. Even if I didn't believe it, they heard my prayers and were able to bestow blessings upon me. In Caribbean culture, we were always taught to respect our ancestors. I know without a doubt that they are real and they are with me in all situations. To any person who has the opportunity to receive the gift of true knowledge such as that given to me and my classmates, I emphatically suggest you take it. There are no words in the English language adequate enough to explain how priceless this knowledge is. I thank my teachers Maakheru and Big Brother Bikbaye Inejnema every day for all they and their families sacrificed just to help me regain what has been stolen from my people for over four hundred years. I thank my classmates each and every one of them for enriching and blessing my life and for being strong, intelligent, and brave enough to come on this journey with me. We are truly growing into a family. Lastly, I thank the Elders in Merita (Africa) for allowing Maakheru to come to help save us, the lost, truly lost children of the African Diaspora in the West.
