Traditional African Healing Instruction

The Initiate: Traditional African Healing Instruction

The Earth Center is alive and well, and we are expanding at an ever-increasing pace. For the first time since The Earth Center's inception in Chicago, we have four levels of students matriculating. The newest class is a combined Meditation/ Traditional Healing class that started on Saturday, January 3rd, 2004. The second wave of Meditation Instructors have recently graduated, and they are ready to teach meditation techniques and/or practice healing as some students are in both classes and will be able to perform both functions. We are very excited about providing the Chicago metropolitan area with certified authentic healers and teachers of meditation to tend to our health once Neb Naba returns to the Motherland.

Our oldest class on the Per Ankh level will be completing their studies after two and one-half years and will begin testing for initiation into the Inu Shifi level. This will be a major historical event for The Earth Center, as this esoteric knowledge from the ancient African mystery schools/temples has never before been allowed to be taught outside of Africa. New classes on all levels will be starting soon and further information can be found elsewhere in this publication or by going to our website at www.theearthcenter.com. There is not an age requirement and we would like to encourage all ages to benefit from these ancient teachings.

I have been interested in taking The Earth Center's class in healing ever since I met Neb Naba at the African Arts Festival five years ago. I bought herbs from him that cured high blood pressure, anemia and other various chronic ailments of several of my friends and family. I was even more impressed with the African Traditional Healing methods when I went to Africa with Neb Naba and my Per Ankh class last year. We were already surprised at the number of very old people (95-120 years old) with clear, alert minds whom were in excellent health; most were still working, didn't need glasses, and were mobile and carrying on their daily chores. They were even riding bicycles for many miles up and down hills on rough terrain. While looking for ancient botanicals to cure mental illnesses and other diseases, we went to a hospital run by a healer who was over 115 years old. He was in unbelievable health, and was treating patients daily. He offered a brain cleanser medicine for us to try that improved the eyesight of my sister and I, and made colors more vivid. Others who had been drinking a lot of beer reported that it instantly made them sober. It was an amazing experience.

When we returned to the village of the Nabas', Neb Naba asked if we had any wishes. While everyone else was debating, I knew what I wanted immediately. I asked for something to cure my severe allergies. I had suffered unbelievable discomfort from non-ending running or stuffy nose, sneezing, tearing, and itching for over 30 years. I had built up tolerances to countless pharmaceuticals, which made me drowsy or nearly comatose, until I was finally placed on steroids that caused a tremendous weight gain and other ill effects. There was no way that I could do anything without being heavily medicated from March to the first frost. (Once when I acquired a tolerance to a drug, I had to move to Las Vegas until the allergy season was over.) Neb Naba is from a family of traditional healers, and he asked his 96 year old uncle to get something to cure the allergies. The uncle grabbed his hoe, jumped onto his bicycle and rode out into the bush to gather some herbs. About an hour later, he returned with some sticks, barks, leaves and herbs and prepared a bath for me out of those materials. From that day until now, I have never had another allergy attack.

As a member of the current class in healing, and having been exposed educationally to the allopathic method of using medicine to treat or manage disease, I have been astounded by the level of knowledge and techniques coming from Africa that we have derived from the healing class. Week after week we are given knowledge about the body and the treatment of conditions or diseases in a simple and succinct manner that is easily understood by students without a scientific background. We have learned that the goal of healing is to create life and not dependence, and that healing is raising the capability to fight the disease. This is unlike most hospital medicines on which a patient must depend, that do not fight disease but maintain the condition by masking the symptoms; and more times than not, gives the patient other diseases. We are learning the parts of the body, the functions of those parts, diseases that are caused by certain environments, and the result of certain common everyday behaviors on the body's health. Some of the revelations learned in this class have caused me to alter my own behavior.

We are learning ancient formulae for healing the body. I have suffered from persistent allergies, colds and respiratory problems all of my life. Once I employed the techniques learned in class, I haven't had the severe respiratory problems that have debilitated me for years during the winter months. I encourage everyone to take this professional course in African Traditional Healing.
